To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to commend James Chen for the services he has provided to Bizarro Capital over the tenure of his internship, and to recommend James’ analytic skills to future employers. I am the co-founder and portfolio manager at Bizarro Capital, a cryptocurrency focused hedge fund, and to perform my duties, I often find myself needing ad-hoc data analyses to inform portfolio decisions. I have found James’ assistance in this area especially helpful, and I cannot recommend him enough for any role for which prompt and keen data insights are essential.
The cryptocurrency industry moves very quicky, and everyday there are new investment opportunities that must be evaluated. As Blockchain technology is still rather new, much of the data I must analyze is bespoke, hard-to find, and even harder to interpret. The timeliness of analyses is especially important in the crypto space, as the market is very inefficient, and mere hours could mean the difference between a 5% or 50% return. Over the course of James’ summer internship, he was extremely prompt and forthcoming with ad-hoc, bespoke analyses, as and whenever I needed them, and his contributions were always spot-on and decision-critical.
These analyses are difficult to describe to a layperson but suffice it to say that Blockchain data is very scattered, hard to access, and even harder to interpret. No matter how difficult, no matter how hard to find, no matter the programming language in which I needed the query written, and no matter what type of data visualization I requested, James could be counted on to deliver whenever it mattered. Months after his internship ended, I still find myself consulting data dashboards that James created to monitor the crypto market and my portfolio.
In conclusion, I have no doubt that James’ efforts greatly contributed to Bizarro Capital’s returns in the past year, and I cannot recommend him enough for any job that requires data analytics. I also believe that, having spent the entire summer poring over blockchain data and thinking about blockchain analytics questions, James is also a strong candidate for introductory crypto and finance roles.
